Using Google Adsense With Joomla Websites

If you're thinking about using Google Adsense to monetize your site but your website is powered by Joomla then you might think it's going to be tricky integrating Adsense into your site. Think again!

That's where the guys at Joomlaspan come in - They've created an Adsense module for Joomla that makes it easy to put Adsense ads on your site and customise the way they are displayed. In fact it's easier to change the layout through this module than through Adsense itself.

How to install and use the Google Adsense Module 2.0

Download the module from www.joomlaspan.com

Log in to your Joomla administration panel and click on INSTALLERS on the top menu and select MODULES.

Browse to where you saved the downloaded module and click UPLOAD FILE AND INSTALL. Joomla will upload the module and install it and you should get a success message at the end of the install.

To configure the Adsense module click on MODULES and then SITE MODULES. On the list of modules that is displayed click on 'Joomlaspan Google AdSense 2.1 Clicksafe' or 'Joomlaspan Google AdSense 2.1'

Then select a Joomla position you want the Google Adsense ads to be displayed (left or right etc.)

On the click safe version you can add IP Addresses to block (such as your own IP address is you don't want Google to think you're cheating the system by displaying your own pages again and again) from seeing the Adsense ads. You then need to enter your Adsense client ID (as provided by Google when you signed up for Adsense).

There are then lots of options to customize the colour scheme of the Google ads to fit in with your site design (this is optional) and the only other thing you need to do is select an ad layout to match the area of your site that you are displaying the ads. On this site for instance as the ads are displayed down the right hand side I select 160 pixel x 600 pixel Wide Skyscraper.

Then just save your changes and preview your site! You can change the ad layout, colour options and module position easily at any time without having to visit Google and re-generate the Adsense code.
