One of the simplest things you can do to start earning some money from your website is to install Google Adsense. But there are some criteria you need to meet before Google will accept you into their program.

Adsense is free to join but Google will reject sites devoted to drugs, pornography, or gambling. They will also reject personal pages, sites with excessive advertising or other content-targeted or text-based ads, incentives for clicking on the keywords (this one could get you banned permanently), profanity, or hate of any sort. You should read Google's Program Policies before you apply.

Basically, if you have a site that offers worthwhile information, you'll be able to sign up with Adsense.

What's cool about Adsense ads is that they're contextual. That means that Google analyses the content of your webpage and decides what ads to display. You can specify a list of web addresses to ignore so that your competitors' ads don't appear on your pages, but that's the only thing you can control besides the size of the ad blocks and their colors.

So you've been accepted into Adsense - now what?

There is an art to making Adsense work for you. Books, audio interviews and video tutorials have all been created to help webmasters to Adsense wealth. So how do you know which are the good ones are which are duff?

Up until very recently, I ran 3 websites (I own more now) which pretty much ran on autopilot, Yes, there was work involved in creating them but they're about things I enjoy so it wasn't "work" work, if you get my drift.

A couple of years ago I tried sticking Adsense on them. I made, maybe, a few dollars a month. I didn't really know what I was doing with Adsense or how to use it properly. Just like most people.

I recently decided to turn on adsense after my post. The ads look great and content is awesome I just can't see the impressions in Adsense. I have always used adsense code and inserts it into to certain areas and tracking no issue with channels. How can I track the impressions with adsense under my post, since you can't pick a channel?

When reporting adsense revenue for websites on my taxforms, do I need to reveal any details about my sites? (Answers: 4) (Comments: 2)

Here is my situation: I'm looking to make adsense money off of a number of adult sites. An attorney who is a family member files my taxes for me. I'm inexperienced with these things: Would there be anything that I would need to report (site name, description of site, etc) on any of my tax forms that could reveal the nature of these sites? Said family member would strongly disapprove. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter!
